Along with the many exciting changes this spring semester, the Morgridge Center for Public Service welcomes Katie Randall as the new assistant department administrator.
Randall is the first to be hired in the assistant department administrator position, created to accommodate the growing needs of the Morgridge Center and to support the operations team. Randall will provide assistance with office duties including, financials, transportation, intern management and daily operations.
A part-time staff, Randall is looking forward to being a part of the exciting projects the Morgridge Center has on the horizon.
“Working on the west side of campus I didn’t know a lot of what went on over here [east side of campus]. When I found the Morgridge Center however, I dug into it more and instantly fell in love with the mission and values and what it stood for,” Randall says.

Prior to joining the Morgridge Center, Randall worked in the healthcare industry in numerous administrative positions. These experiences included time as a nursing home administrator and most recently, as the administrative assistant at the Cardiovascular Research Center in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH).
These roles allowed her to gain skills in understanding organizational goals from an overarching operational standpoint.
“I have worked with a lot of entities on different levels — doctors, board of directors and faculty, a whole realm of people that allowed me to see things on a bigger scale rather than the day-to-day operations,” Randall explains.
Besides bringing that perspective to the Morgridge Center, Randall hopes to incorporate her knowledge of the healthcare industry to her new position, potentially assisting in finding and promoting healthcare-oriented volunteer opportunities for the Badger Volunteers program.
“I want to be able to share my background experiences in healthcare and incorporate that into opportunities here,” Randall says.
The Morgridge Center is thrilled excited to add another professional staff member that brings in new interests and expertise.
“The Morgridge Center is something so unique,” Randall says. “To have the university aspect and the community side, and to be able to bridge those two things I think is one of a kind.”
